I’m going to go ahead and call it – Fall 2019 is the “Season of the Dolly.” Anyone who’s familiar with Dolly Parton knows that our hard-workin’ Appalachian queen always has something up her rhinestone encrusted long-sleeves, but this year she seems to have been particularly busy with SEVERAL projects in the works, many of which are slated to come out this fall.

Wanna know where and when to catch Dolly? We have the breakdown for you right here- so mark your calendars!

“Dolly Parton’s America” Podcast

In a seemingly divided period in our nation’s history, one podcast dares to explore the one thing that we all seem to agree on: Dolly Parton.

In “Dolly Parton’s America,” host Jad Abumrad, who grew up in Tennessee, journeys into the center of the “Dollyverse” and the universally positive affect she seems to have on people from all over the world, no matter their race, religion or background.

The 9-part podcast series debuted Oct 15th and centers around an interview with the one and only Dolly herself – pieces of which are woven into each episode.

I gotta tell ya – even on the most depressing news day, there’s nothing like settling in for a good Dolly interview – it feels like wrapping yourself in a warm blanket as you convince yourself – even if just for a moment – that everything is going to be ok.

New episodes of “Dolly Parton’s America” are released each Tuesday, episodes are now available on most major podcast apps and online at https://www.wnycstudios.org/podcasts/dolly-partons-america.

“Dolly Parton: Here She Comes Again!” ABC Special

ABC network just announced that they will be airing an hour-long special “Dolly Parton: Here She Comes Again!” the night BEFORE the CMA Awards.

This special is set to be hosted by ABC’s Robin Roberts and promises to offer viewers an “personal and fun” interview and intimate look at Dolly’s life and legendary career. It is said that Dolly’s hometown of Sevierville and her world-famous theme park Dollywood will also make an appearance.

ABC also promises to air never-before-seen performance footage plus interviews from other country music artists about their love for the Dolly, and undoubtedly a few hilarious and heartwarming stories to boot.

“Dolly Parton: Here She Comes Again!” will air Nov. 12 at 10pm ET on ABC

The 53rd Annual Country Music Awards on ABC

Dolly will be co-hosting this year’s Country Music Awards (CMAs) alongside Reba McEntire and Carrie Underwood. Dolly is also slated to perform a choir-backed faith-based medley as announced backstage at her 50th Anniversary Celebration at the Grand Ole Opry.

I’m secretly hoping this medley includes a bit of her recently released EDM style collaboration “Faith” (with Galantis feat. Mr Probz) which was just released a couple of weeks ago. (Don’t knock it ‘til you’ve heard it.)

The 53rd Annual CMA Awards will air LIVE from Nashville, TN’s  Bridgestone Arena Wednesday, Nov 13 at 8pm ET on the ABC Television Network.

“Dolly Parton’s Heartstrings” on Netflix

“Dolly Parton’s Heartstrings”, a Netflix original anthology series, according to Netflix, will feature “eight stories celebrating family faith, love and forgiveness come to life” and is inspired by Dolly’s iconic country music catalog – with each episode revolving around one of her famous songs – including the premiere episode “Jolene” with Julianne Hough playing the lead.

Dolly will also appear on camera in the series in addition to being the singer/songwriter and executive producer.

Episodes will center around the following titles: “Jolene”, “These Old Bones”, JJ Sneed”, “If I Had Wings”, “Cracker Jack”, “Sugar Hill”, “Down from Dover” and “Two Doors Down”.

“Dolly Parton’s Heartstrings” is set to debut on Netflix Monday, November 22nd. No word yet on whether or not you’re going to be able to binge this one or if episodes will be released one at a time. Stay tuned my friends.

“Dolly Parton: 50 Years at the Opry” on NBC

Dolly recently celebrated a huge milestone that few artists will achieve in their lifetime: 50 years as a member of the Grand Ole Opry. But just in case you weren’t able to get tickets to the live event it’s not too late to witness the magic for yourself.  NBC will be airing a 2-hour special: “Dolly Parton: 50 Years at the Grand Ole Opry” complete with  star-studded performances and interviews (featuring Dierks Bentley, Emmylou Harris, Chris Janson, Toby Keith, Lady Antebellum, Margo Price, Hank Williams Jr. and more) including performances by the Dolly herself.

“Dolly Parton: 50 Years at the Opry” is set to air Tuesday, Nov. 26, 9-11 p.m. on NBC.

“Dollywood at Christmas” on Hallmark

Dolly also has a new Hallmark moving coming out: “Christmas at Dollywood” starting Danica McKellar (from the Wonder Years) and Niall Matter (from The Best Years.)

The film is part of Hallmark’s annual “Countdown to Christmas” event, with Dollywood’s Smoky Mountain Christmas Festival providing the backdrop and of course, a special appearance by Dolly herself.

The plot, according to ET, centers around a Broadway producer and single mom (played by McKellar) who returns to her hometown roots because of financial difficulties. She takes a job at Dollywood where she attempts to put on a Christmas themed show despite clashing with the park’s entertainment director (played by Matter). As one might expect, in classic Hallmark fashion, they will likely reconcile their differences and fall madly in love.

Personal confession –  I’m not exactly the world’s biggest fan of cheesy romantic movies but in the midst of poking a bit of fun at the synopsis with my husband he sarcastically interjected “Oh yeah – cause people falling in love at Dollywood is SO crazy that would NEVER happen” reminding me of our first date 13 years ago, which happened to be … wait for it… at Dollywood, around Christmas time. SOOOOO needless to say that shut me up pretty quickly and I now plan on tuning in with an open mind. Thanks for my marriage Dollywood!

“Dollywood at Christmas” debuts Sunday, Dec. 8 at 8 pm on the Hallmark Channel. If you don’t have cable, you can also stream The Hallmark Channel on Philo, fuboTV, Sling TV, AT&T TV Now or Playstation Vue.

“Christmas on the Square” on Netflix

Last but not least, Dolly is also slated to appear in a holiday-themed Netflix musical: “Christmas on the Square.” (Anyone else wondering if Dolly has just cloned herself at this point?)

Virtually no details have been announced quite yet about this one – except for the fact that production reportedly began in July 2019 and that the film is being produced by Magnolia Hill Productions who were also behind “Coat of Many Colors”, “Christmas of Many Colors  – Circle of Love” and the previously mentioned “Heartstrings series.”

“Christmas on the Square” will premiere on Netflix, release date TBD but expected to drop December 2019.
