Dolly Parton, our Appalachian queen, is making headlines again after revealing over the weekend that she would like to pose for Playboy Magazine when she turns 75.

Parton’s revelation comes after a busy week for the beloved country music star. She recently released a brand-new Christmas album entitled “A Holly Dolly Christmas” and has a a Netflix special, “Christmas on the Square” coming out soon.

Parton’s expressed her desire to pose for the infamous magazine during an interview with 60 Minutes Australia with journalist Tom Steinfort.

In the interview, Steinfort asks Parton about her “retirement age.”

“A gentleman never asks a woman her age, so perhaps I might ask … what’s the retirement age?” inquires Steinfort.

“Well, I don’t plan to retire. I just turned 74. I plan to be on the cover of Playboy magazine,” Parton replied, true to her often earnest Dollyism style.

Parton has appeared in Playboy before at the age of 32 wearing a bustier bunny outfit complete with ears, and sparkly accessories.

“I did Playboy magazine years ago,” Parton said. “I thought it’d be such a hoot if they go for it — I don’t know if they will — if I could be on the cover again when I’m 75.”

“Are you going whip out that same outfit?” asks Steinfort.

“Maybe!” replies Parton. “I could probably use it – boots are still the same.”

If the Playboy cover looks familiar, perhaps it’s because it also appeared in the viral Dolly Parton Challenge meme earlier this year. The challenge featured photos of Dolly in various stages of her career, and in varying stages of dress with the caption: “LinkedIn, Facebook, Instagram, Tinder.”

The challenge generated nearly 500,000 hashtags on Instagram alone from fans who followed suit sharing their own versions of the meme.

In other Dolly news: When will Dolly’s ‘A Holly Dolly Christmas’ album be available?

Dolly’s brand-new album, “A Holly Dolly Christmas”, was released on Oct. 2, 2020, and is available now on Spotify, Apple music, Amazon music and online at

“I decided to call the album ‘A Holly Dolly Christmas’ because I always loved the song ‘A Holly Jolly Christmas’, and I thought ah! ‘Holly Dolly Christmas’ would be a great name for the album,” says Dolly in a video posted to Twitter.

Naturally, “Holly Jolly Christmas” is the first track on the album.

“I’ve never been more excited about a project in my whole career than my Holly Dolly Christmas album,” says Dolly in a statement. “I’m singing with some of the greatest artists ever on some of our favorite classic Christmas songs and a few new ones that I have written. I hope we all have a Holly Dolly Christmas this year!”

“A Holly Dolly Christmas” is Dolly’s first holiday album in 30 years. It was released with Butterfly Records in partnership with 12Tone Music and features five all-new tracks written solely by Dolly herself, with one additional co-write with Kent Wells.

Dolly’s brand-new Christmas album features a mix of Christmas classics as well as original songs. The album includes guest performances by some big-name artists such as Michael Bublé, Miley Cyrus, Billy Ray Cyrus and Jimmy Fallon.

The album also features a song called “Christmas On The Square,” which gives us a sneak peek on her new Netflix special.

When will ‘Dolly Parton’s Christmas on the Square’ premiere on Netflix?

Rumor has it that ‘Christmas on the Square’ was expected to come out in 2019, but due to a production delay, the premiere was pushed out to Sunday, Nov. 22, 2020.

The film’s runtime is 1 hour and 38 minutes. Netflix has not yet released a trailer for the film, but classifies it as “heartfelt, feel-good and inspiring.”

Of course with Dolly playing an angel, we would expect nothing less.
