February Events in the Smoky Mountains (2024)

Smoky Mountains in February

A list of upcoming events in the Smoky Mountains for February

February is a peaceful time to visit the Smoky Mountains. Romance is in the air. Holiday crowds are long gone. And spring break crowds have yet to arrive. It can also be a great time for a romantic getaway with your sweetheart.

Our recommendation, if you’re visiting with your Valentine, would be to rent a cabin for the weekend and plan a special dinner at one of Gatlinburg’s most romantic restaurants. A few of our favorite romantic spots include The Peddler Steakhouse, The Greenbrier Restaurant and Chesapeake’s. Feeling extra romantic? Consider a vow renewal at one of the many local chapels.

If you’re looking for something a bit more family-friendly consider skiing, snowboarding or snow tubing on the slopes at Ober Mountain (formerly Ober Gatlinburg). Indoor ice skating is also available). You may also enjoy a walk on the world-famous SkyBridge at SkyLift Park, a ride in a heated Pink Jeep or some live bluegrass and country music at Ole Red, Puckett’s or Hard Rock Cafe. The Titanic Museum (including the not-to-be-missed grand staircase replica) and Ripley’s Aquarium of the Smokies are also nice, warm indoor activities.

    • Hey Melissa! Several local attractions are likely to have Valentine’s day decor up in February. We highly recommend Anakeesta and/or SkyLift Park, catching a show, going on a hike if weather permits and maybe catching a few rounds of mini-golf or enjoying one of our many family-friendly escape rooms!

    • Hi Benny! Anakeesta is romantic but only open on Feb. 12 and 17th due to a limited schedule. SkyBridge is a popular proposal spot. Additionally, you could also check out one of the waterfalls like Grotto Falls. It’s a waterfall that you can walk behind, the only one of its kind in the Smokies. Just watch out for seasonal road closures (like Roaring Fork). Hope you have a great trip!

  5. Hi

We will be renting a cabin with the family 16-19 for granddaughters 12 birthday. Are there any ice sculptures winter festivals going on?

  6. Hi Wanda! Your visit will be on the very tail end of Winterfest. The Wonders of Light Walking Trail should still be up. It has a few features that may interest you, but note that the area will begin to transition out of Winterfest around the 19th. Hope that helps, and enjoy your trip!
