Free Music at Ole Red Gatlinburg

Ole Red is now offering live music as COVID-19 restrictions ease. Country fans already know this place gets its name from superstar Blake Shelton’s breakout hit, “Ol’ Red”, and Blake knows a thing or two about spotting country’s next rising stars. This month’s line up so far includes Shaun Abbott, Tyson Leamon, Elijah Wise, Sara Collins, The Dugger Band and Brad Hudson. Check the website for updates or possible cancellations.

Robert A. Tino’s Smoky Mountain Homecoming

Robert A. Tino’s Smoky Mountain Homecoming offers crafts, music and food. The art gallery will be open each day from 10am-5pm. With admission, receive $5 off any piece valued $100 or more. Ripley’s Aquarium Home School Program

Ripley’s Aquarium offers special programs for all home schooled students!  In October, the lesson will be on bioluminescent animals. Halloween Happenings Wilderness at the Smokies

Bring the little ghosts and goblins to head to Wilderness at the Smokies for Halloween! The younger guests can enter a coloring contest, and on Halloween, from 5-8pm, they may don a costume and follow the map for sweet treats and small toys. This year, due to the coronavirus, a virtual costume contest will also be offered from October 26-31. Take a photo of you and/or your family, and tag @wildernesssmokies and add #wildernesssmokieshalloween2020 by November 1, for a chance to win a gift card. Visit the website for more information.

Puckett’s restaurant and music venue embodies true Tennessee culture through it’s signature comfort foods and featuring of talented area artists and musicians. Ripley’s Haunted Adventure’s Fright Nights

Ripley’s Haunted Adventure is hosting its annual Fright Nights every Friday and Saturday night in October. There will be a new theme, yet unannounced, this year. Children must be six to enter, but be aware, this venue is geared toward ages 12 and up. Visit the website for more information.

St. Paul and the Broken Bones

Drive-In Concert at Ghost Town in the Sky

Grey Eagle Music Hall, based in Asheville, NC, presents this unique socially distanced concert featuring St. Paul and the Broken Bones in the parking lot of Maggie Valley’s Ghost Town in the Sky.

St. Paul & the Broken Bones is an 8-man rock and roll soul band from Alabama. They released their debut album Half the City in 2014, and a follow-up entitled Sea of Noise in 2016. The band’s latest album, Young Sick Camelia is now streaming on Spotify. The band has received worldwide acclaim having opened for The Rolling Stones, headlining events at The Ryman Auditorium and performing on nationally-televised late night shows including The Late Show with David Letterman, Jimmy Kimmel Live, Conan, Austin City Limits and The Late Show with Stephen Colbert. 

Concert-goers can reserve a 20×15′ space which will accommodate one vehicle and a small seating area. The event is BYOC (bring your own chair). Or, if you prefer, the concert will also stream via FM to car radios should guests choose to remain in their vehicles. No campers, RVs or sprinters are allowed. Gatlinburg SkyWalk at the SkyBridge

Guests will be able to witness members of the professional slackfline group, Rucksack Circus, as they walk across 75 yards of nylon rope suspended across 2 packs, connecting to the SkyBridge 150 ft. above the forest floor! This is the group’s first performance in the state of Tennessee! There will be day and night performances as well as an opportunity to experience a walk on a small slackfline at the viewing area. Autumn at Anakeesta

Beginning October 1, guests will be able to experience the many colors of autumn in the Great Smoky Mountains from Anakeesta, Gatlinburg’s award winning outdoor family theme park. This year’s fall event will feature seasonal food, drinks, games, live entertainment and a variety family-friendly activities. Movies times may vary based on the sunset, but the expected start time is around 7 pm, weather permitting. Live music and movie events are free with the purchase of admission. 

Featured Events Include:

  • ‘Haunted’ rides on the Rail Runner mountain coaster each night at sunset
  • Nighttime ziplining
  • Family-friendly Halloween-themed movies at the fire pit (Friday and Saturday nights)

CANCELLED: Sevierville’s History and Haunts Event

Stroll the streets of historic downtown Sevierville each Saturday evening in October (5 pm-9 pm) to enjoy family-friendly frights and fall fun.

Each Saturday brings a new harvest of activities everyone will enjoy, from guided historic walking tours and costume contests to storytellers, live music and lawn games.

Downtown hotspot Graze Burgers will show the football games every weekend on their big screen TVs.

Gatlinburg Fall Craftsmen’s Fair

Two hundred booths with unique, handmade products will be on display. Each participant is subject to a rigorous jury process to ensure the uniqueness and quality of their respective products. All items represented are handmade and of utmost quality-and without duplication. Look for exceptional pottery pieces, molded leather, copper art, local candy makers, and many more unique items.

There is something for everyone at the Fair. The Gatlinburg Craftsmen’s Fair and Smoky Mountain Resort Ministries provide a free Kid’s Corner during the July fair, with a selection of DIY crafts for the youngest visitors to take home with them. Be sure to stop by one or all the daily music shows included with the price of admission.
