Save Our Smokies Trash Pick-up Events
Join the Save Our Smokies trash pick-up events on Feb. 17 (meeting at the GSMNP Cosby Entrance) and on Feb. 28 (meet at the Cove Creek Baptist Church in Waynesville, NC).
Group assignments and paperwork completion will be held in the parking area of the meet-up locations.
Supplies will be provided as the supply lasts. Please be aware of health protocols and socially distance during the outdoor work and wear masks during any carpools with anyone outside of your household.
To save time, complete the Job Hazard Analysis (JHA) online. For minors, the OF301a and Job Description will also need to be signed in addition to the JHA. Sips and Sharks
Do sharks sleep? Come find out for yourself as you enjoy an adult only version of our aquarium overnights! The night will include drinks, heavy hors d’oeuvers, a behind the scenes tour, a creature feature, continental style breakfast, and so much more!

WonderWorks Sensory Days for Children and Adults with Special Needs
WonderWorks is hosting Sensory Days with exhibits that will be altered to provide limited stimulation for those with special needs.
The music in the facility is lowered. Any loud exhibit is not operational and the inversion tunnel is halted, creating a safe environment to enjoy the facility without feeling overwhelmed.
Parents, caretakers, family and children can come to WonderWorks for $10 per person during this event. For more information, visit the website.

Ripley’s Aquarium Homeschool Program
Ripley’s Aquarium offers special programs for all home schooled students.
In addition to reservation prices, a walk up discount is available for $10.99 (plus tax) per person.
This discount is available for teaching parents, homeschool children and immediate siblings in the same household (minors).
You must provide either a letter of intent, attendance record, or homeschool ID card at the admission windows in order to receive this discount. Visit the website for details.

Wilderness Wildlife Week
Wilderness Wildlife Week 2021 will offer educational programs targeted for the youngsters and guided hikes into the Great Smoky Mountains for the more adventurous folks, as well as many other programs for all ages and interests.

Arrowmont Kids Camp Day
Register for some cool workshops this spring including Wild World, Hand Sewn Monsters, Bookbinding Camp, Cold Connections and Exploring Acrylic Paint.
Each workshop is geared toward specific age groups. Bring your own lunch, but materials will be provided.

Great Smoky Mountain Institute at Tremont
Want to take better photos of your adventures?
Join master landscape photographer Will Clay and close-up specialist Ken Thompson for this special weekend featuring the “creative uses of winter light.”
The class will emphasize the use of winter light, sunrise and sunset, overcast and midday light to create master photographs in the Smokies.
The emphasis will be on “shoot and critique,” with class participants presenting a short portfolio of their work on Sunday evening.
As with the spring and fall workshops, there will be help from the instructors in the field as well as with Photoshop. Visit the website to register online.

Ripley’s Aquarium Sensory Night
Ripley’s hosts several sensory-friendly events and nights throughout the year which offer lowered lighting and music throughout the facility.
Quiet spaces are also offered for those who may need a break during their visit.
Ripley’s Aquarium of the Smokies is a Certified Autism Center.
This designation was given by IBCCES (International Board of Credentialing and Continuing Education Standards) and is awarded to organizations who have completed a training and review process to better serve individuals with sensory needs.
