Is this Great Smoky Mountain legend true?

Perry Shultz lived near the Greenbrier area of the Smokies 

Perry was a farmer and often identified as a blacksmith 

Some say he was often seen emerging from the mountains with silver

He allegedly made his own version of U.S. Treasury coins 

And rumor has it, when the feds caught wind, he ditched his coins and fled 

Years later, a man allegedly found $37,000 of coins on the homestead

Is any of this actually true? 

So are there more coins left behind?
