Wilderness at the Smokies has officially reopened to the public after being closed for over two months due to coronavirus concerns.

Wilderness at the Smokies is situated in the foothills of the Great Smoky Mountains in Sevierville. The resort features 234 rooms, 472 suites, seven villas, a heated year-round indoor waterpark, two seasonal outdoor waterparks, an indoor family entertainment center, dining, shopping, a 36-hole championship golf course, and more than 200,000 square feet of meeting and convention space.

The indoor waterpark is the largest of its kind in the State of Tennessee.

“We recognize that the last eight weeks have been challenging for everyone, especially families with small children, and we want to provide a fun and safe place for them to escape to when they are ready,” said Joe Eck, COO of Wilderness Resorts and Waterparks in a press release.

The resort has been working with state and county guidelines to create a Safer at Play Program that outlines in detail all of the safety precautions in place at the resort.

Another safety precaution that the resort is implementing, is that no day passes will be sold at this time in order to keep waterpark occupancy manageable. Only guests of the resort will be able to use the waterparks. Waterpark access is automatically included with resort booking.

Guests returning to the resort after the 2-month hiatus might also notice the addition of two of brand new shops that weren’t there before: The Candy Cabin and Yukon Yogurt. The Candy Cabin is open now, Yukon Yogurt is expected to open early June.
