James Overholt

James is the co-founder of TheSmokies.com LLC – a media company that specializes in regional travel sites including TheSmokies.com, HeyOrlando.com and MiamiTake.com. He has also served as a lead software developer at Oak Ridge Associated Universities (ORAU) in Oak Ridge, TN and as Operations Manager for Shopping Services LLC – a Tennessee-based home shopping network.

About James Overholt, Co-Founder of TheSmokies.com
James Overholt is a talented software developer and data analyst having spent nearly two decades in the information technology field.
He is also currently a contractor for Oak Ridge Associated Universities (ORAU).
Through his work at ORAU, where he proudly serves alongside the Veterans Administration’s Emergency Management Team, he revamped and improved internal emergency deployment systems and processes that provide aid to veterans and their communities.
James and his founding partners were bitten by the “blogging bug” in 2020 when they launched their original concept – TheSmokies.com, an homage to their hometown in Tennessee.
James’s connections and family ties with East Tennessee run deep. He is a Cocke County native and a graduate of East Tennessee State University. And his first date with his now-wife Morgan was at Dollywood in Pigeon Forge.
He claims that his favorite Dollywood ride is the Blazing Fury but says Lightning Rod is a “close second … when it’s running”.
