Local offers honest review of The Comedy Barn in Pigeon Forge, what to expect
Comedy, in general, has changed in the years since the show “Hee-Haw” had its heyday. But let’s be real: Millions of fans couldn’t be wrong. It was a hit in rural markets but also did well in New York, Los Angeles and Chicago. There was surely an appetite for a silly, funny, show featuring cornpone humor and music. While “Hee Haw” may be gone, its spirit lives on in places like The Comedy Barn Theater in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee.
The Comedy Barn in Pigeon Forge features Hee-Haw-style comedy with jugglers, comedians, musicians, animal acts and more. It’s a popular yet cheesy show in the Smokies that overall is highly reviewed. It’s important to know that this show is not a full dinner show, unlike many of the other area’s theaters. However, snacks are available for purchase.

What’s the Comedy Barn show about?
In many ways, The Comedy Barn – which bills itself as the most successful and most attended clean comedy theater in the world – is like a time machine, carrying visitors back to a time when Archie Campbell was world-famous. The Comedy Barn keeps that vaudeville, variety show spirit of entertainment alive. Also, because this is a show located in Pigeon Forge, it also comes with a healthy dollop of patriotic fervor and a touch of gospel music to bring everything home.
In addition to the zany, down-home antics, there are animal acts including cats, canines and barnyard animals. There are also dancers, musicians and a juggling act that can run a little long, if you ask me. The show also features dancing, magicians, a comedian and ventriloquists and promises to be the funniest show on the Parkway. The Comedy Barn attraction is family-friendly. There will be some scatological clean humor. But it’s kid-friendly.
Is the Comedy Barn worth it?
If the above description sounds like your brand of humor, then yes, The Comedy Barn is worth it. I’ve heard of people who go see it every year. The truth is, part of me wants to be too cool for The Comedy Barn. But I’m not. And if you let yourself enjoy it, you might just be surprised too. After all, I’ve seen George Carlin, Seinfeld and John Mulaney perform life. I’ve seen the greats. Shouldn’t I be above cornpone poop jokes? Reader, I am not.
Plus, it’s one of the more affordable shows in the area, especially compared to the others also owned by the Dolly Parton Company. Why is it so much more affordable? Mostly because dinner is not served with the show. Still, it can make your budgeting a little easier if a show is something on your must-do list.
Does The Comedy Barn have a Christmas Show?
During the holiday season, The Comedy Barn switches to a Christmas-themed show for seasonal laughter and family fun. It features Christmas music and costumes, and the show includes Santa himself.
Pricing, parking and what you should know
The most important thing, I think, to know about this show is that The Comedy Barn is not a dinner show. But there is a robust snack bar to visit. Parking is available on-site for free, but the spots are a bit more limited compared to other shows in the area.
The actors also are known for bringing audience members up on stage. There is a lot of audience participation to go with the corny jokes. If you’re uncomfortable being pulled on stage or into a bit, you might request a seat further to the back and see if they can accommodate you. Overall, the show length is about two hours. At the time of this writing, ticket prices are $34.99 for adults. Kids pricing is also available. To make reservations, call (865) 428-5222, or go online to check current ticket prices and showtimes via the website. You can also book with Tripster.

We love the Comedy Barn ! It is a show that’s safe for kids and adults. Always enjoyed the show and have been there about 25 years now. Still go at least once a year.
We enjoyed the show, but didn’t realize early enough that it was not a dinner show. But I think we managed with pizza, hot dogs, and pop corn. Did not have children with us, an adult show would have been fine. But as a family show, I thought it was very good.
We have been several times. My husband was even took on stage. We still have the cd and still laugh about it. Love it!!
ABSOLUTELY WORTH IT!!!!! A MUST SEE SHOW, BUT, only if you love to laugh and forget your troubles for a couple hours.
It is a great show and worth the price. We have been going for almost 15 years and the only thing that has changed is the animals. They now have cats that do amazing tricks. The jokes and show itself has not changed. Using different people from the audience helps with act, but when you go once you already know the show.
My entire family, including kids from ages 16-27, had a blast. Tons of laughs and good clean fun! Totally recommend spending an evening at this show!!
We been going since 1997 every year it’s the number 1 show in Pigeon Forge..My husband was called on stage as one of the three men.We love the Comedy barn!!!!!
