Soaky Mountain reveals plans for new six-person water slide, Rafter’s Rage

Soaky Mountain Waterpark is one of the newer attractions in the Smoky Mountains. And yet, they seemingly never cease to add new features. Now, just a few short years after debuting The Edge water coaster, the park has now announced yet another new water slide: Rafter’s Rage. The new ride is set to open in 2025.

Soaky Mountain officials recently announced their newest expansion, a slide named Rafter’s Rage. It will be a six-person raft ride that begins eight stories in the air. According to officials, it’s a first-of-its-kind attraction that will allow rafts to laterally accelerate over four different arcs.

What will the new slide be called?

The new slide is named Rafter’s Rage, produced by WhiteWater, and it will be an incredibly exciting six-person raft ride that starts roughly eight stories in the air and spans 825 feet. Riders will be capable of reaching speeds of up to 19 mph as they whip down the slide.

“Our Edge water coaster, which was the first of its kind in the world, has been such a hit we’ve decided to follow it up with Rafter’s Rage, another first-of-its-kind attraction,” said Dave Andrews, general manager of Soaky Mountain Waterpark.

“Rafter’s Rage will be different than most water slides with high banking turns and steep drops because instead it will feature four artfully crafted arcs that rafts will laterally accelerate over sideways,” he said. “This thrilling drifting experience – a world’s first for a water slide – will extend a rider’s zero G feeling, making it an incredible attraction.”

Where will the new slide be?

Notably, the new slide will be located adjacent to the park’s Avalaunch water coaster behind the Black Bear Rapids Adventure River. It is anticipated to be completed in time for the start of the 2025 season in May.

2025 season admission passes will be available starting Aug. 12, 2024 for $99.99 and include one guest daily admission ticket. Daily admission tickets for the 2024 season are $49.99 (if purchased online) for anyone above 42 inches and $41.99 for anyone under 42 inches. Children ages three and up require a ticket. Also, Wilderness at the Smokies’ registered guests can purchase a discounted daily admission ticket for $19.99 at the time of check-in. Finally, the 2024 season ends on Sept. 29, 2024.

Soaky Mountain Waterpark is located at 175 Gists Creek Road in Sevierville, Tenn.
